ISESS follows a 3-stage process.

In the first review stage, authors are requested to submit a 4-page extended abstract, which is basically a short version of the envisioned paper. In addition to the program committee reviews, authors will receive guidance from the editor with respect to the content and possible directions of their full papers.

In the second review stage full papers of up to 10 pages will be reviewed. The editor will thoroughly check whether authors have taken into account previous comments.

Both review stages will be carried out by at least 3 reviewers. Note that the maximum length of final papers will depend on how many papers will be finally excepted, as there is an upper cap on the proceedings of 900 pages.

In the third stage, the camera ready version will then be further elaborated together with the editor of the proceedings, taking into account comments from review stage 2.

At the ISESS conference in 2015, the overall rejection rate from abstracts to final papers was slightly over 40%.

In order to safe editorial efforts from extended abstract towards full paper, we require authors to use the official Springer Microsoft Word template for the IFIP AICT series when submitting their abstract. The Microsoft Word template and accompanying instructions are available on this page.

For the whole process, please do note that – contrary to the standard Springer instructions attached – ISESS does not accept submissions other than Microsoft Word and no exceptions will be granted. For the extended abstract submission, please do note that the extended abstract (short version of the paper) shall not contain yet another abstract. Submissions in the wrong format will be sent back to authors and will not be reviewed.

Deadlines have been published at www.isess2017.org and in the call for papers.

In case of questions please contact the editor (and only the editor) of the proceedings at ralf.denzer@enviromatics.org.
